Takata Air Bag Inflator Explodes in Florida Accident

A Florida driver was recently killed in a car crash involving an exploding Takata air bag inflator.  The driver was operating a 2002 Honda Accord when the crash occurred and the driver side air bag inflator ruptured. The cause of death is still currently under investigation, however, if the air bag caused the Florida driver’s death, it would be the 19th death worldwide, and 13th in the United States, where a Takata air bag inflator is blamed. Takata air bag inflators have been found to explode with too much force and can blow apart a metal canister that causes shrapnel to shoot out into the passenger cabin of a vehicle.  These defective air bag inflators have led to the largest automobile recall in U.S. history, with 42 million vehicles being

Injured Florida Driver Awarded $150,000 Verdict Following Car Accident

A 42-year-old woman that sustained severe injuries in a Broward County car accident was recently awarded $150,000 by a Fort Lauderdale jury.  Just before the collision, the Broward County woman was on her way to pick up her son from school, when the driver in front of her made an illegal left turn in front of her vehicle, causing the accident. The negligent driver who caused the car accident had apparently tried to make a left hand turn from a side street, and because it was done so abruptly, the Florida woman had no chance to take any evasive measures or avoid the collision in any way. The negligent driver’s insurance company was involved in negotiations with the injured woman, however, they were only willing to make small

Uber Introduces Tipping Feature to its App

Uber, the popular ridesharing app, recently announced that it will now offer a feature on its app where passengers can choose to tip their drivers for good service.  In an effort to promote this feature, and build some good will after months of apparent trouble in the press, Uber also offered to match tips made to their drivers. In recent times, Uber has been receiving press coverage regarding alleged outcry from some drivers and those who support them, to offer increased pay and the option to leave tips for drivers. Uber’s rapid expansion and popularity has evidently not come without some negative aspects.  Here in South Florida, city governments in Fort Lauderdale and Miami initially resisted Uber’s entrance into these markets, stating safety and lack of regulation as

Florida Deputy Rear-Ends Smart Car at over 100mph

The trial of a Florida police deputy is scheduled to begin after the deputy allegedly caused a severe Florida car accident when he crashed into the rear of a tiny Smart car at over 100 m.p.h. The Palm Beach accident happened in the spring of 2016 when the deputy was allegedly pursuing another driver suspected of a felony when the devastating collision occurred.  Officials investigating the incident have stated that the deputy in question was instructed at least three times by superiors not to engage or follow the suspect’s vehicle. Ignoring these instructions, the deputy dangerously continued swerving through lanes and intersections without his lights and sirens in use, before violently running into the rear-end of the much smaller Smart car.  The Florida driver of the Smart car

Police
