March 16, 2017Daughter of actor, Laurence Fishburne, was arrested recently in Fort Lauderdale after she was involved in an accident by Oakland Park Boulevard and I-95. Ms. Fishburne allegedly rear-ended a large SUV that had apparently slowed down to avoid debris in the roadway.
Ms. Fishburne’s vehicle was badly damaged in the Fort Lauderdale car accident, but stated that she was not hurt, despite the force of the collision. Responding police reported that Ms. Fishburne was arrested alleging that she may have been intoxicated while driving and causing the accident on Oakland Park Boulevard. FHP also stated that she apparently failed multiple field sobriety tests.
The apparent circumstances of this accident go to show that a driver never knows what they will encounter on a roadway. Trying to safely avoid road debris, this SUV was unsuspectingly rear-ended by another vehicle, who’s driver failed to pay attention to the conditions and traffic around her.
In addition to always operating your vehicle in as safe of a manner as possible, it is critical that drivers obtain the maximum amount of insurance coverage available, especially uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Uninsured/Underinsured motorist coverage will help cover certain occupants in a vehicle when an at-fault driver has no insurance, or the insurance they do have is inadequate to cover the medical costs and other damages the injured party incurred. This is even more important in areas like Fort Lauderdale, Weston, Davie, Hollywood, Aventura, Miami and other cities in South Florida, where there is a high number of uninsured and underinsured drivers.
