Former teen idol, David Cassidy, has been charged with allegedly leaving the scene of an accident and driving with an expired registration after a car crash in Fort Lauderdale last month.
Fort Lauderdale police claim that the 65-year-old actor allegedly sideswiped a truck and then tried to cover his license plate before driving away with a flat tire. Authorities also said that witnesses were able to identify Cassidy as the alleged driver in a photo lineup that conducted soon after the accident.
Cassidy’s lawyer stated that the police report is riddled with inconsistencies and that Cassidy complied with requests for producing his license and registration before leaving the scene.
Cassidy became famous for starring in “The Partridge Family” television show and is a resident of Fort Lauderdale.
Hit-and-run accidents are yet another example of what makes uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage so critical. This insurance protects you and possibly others in your household who may be involved in an accident with someone who carries little or no auto insurance. Therefore, always elect uninsured motorist protection at the highest amounts offered and with the stacking option.
